Abstract
"La revista Caminos, a la que he tenido el privilegio de acompañar casi desde su nacimiento hasta hoy, su momento de madurez, me pidió hace unos meses compilar varios textos sobre los hispanos en los Estados Unidos, un asunto de la mayor importancia al que acaso debiéramos otorgarle más visibilidad en Cuba desde la reflexión y no sólo desde el discurso, entre otras cosas debido a las implicaciones sociales, políticas y culturales que pueden tocarnos de cerca como nación en un futuro. Como soy juez y parte en este empeño, en rigor no me corresponde tanto valorar la posible importancia de cada uno de estos ensayos –algo que dejo a Jorge Hernández, más que capacitado para el trabajo– sino más bien explicarles por qué la revista decidió incursionar en este tema. Por ello compartiré con ustedes estas brevísimas reflexiones, que de algún modo constituyen los ejes nutrientes de este dossier. Para empezar, digamos que durante los años ochenta del siglo pasado se produce un vuelco cualitativo en la naturaleza de las migraciones que llegan a los Estados Unidos, un pueblo trasplantado, según la terminología del antropólogo brasileño Darcy Ribeiro" ["The Roads magazine, which I had the privilege of accompanying almost from birth until today, its time to maturity, asked me a few months to compile several texts on Hispanics in the United States, a matter of the greatest importance that perhaps We should give more visibility in Cuba from the reflection and not only from the speech, among other things because of social, political and cultural implications that can touch us closely as a nation in the future.
