Abstract
This article examines the role of Nasyiatul 'Aisyiyah to empower the women in Kebumen, Central Java. The author argues that the increasing of violence against women in Indonesia is the main factor behind the movement of Aisyiyah in empowering the women. This paper uses the theory of social movement to explore how the process of empowerment by Nasyiatul Aisyiyah in Kebumen areas in the fight for women's rights. The author argues that Nasyiatul 'Aisyiyah more focused on religious issues that distinguish it from other women's organizations.
