Abstract
"Atualmente percebe-se que os médicos estão cada vez mais distantes de seus pacientes, priorizando, quando muito, o aspecto técnico da profissão. Por isso, a educação ética e moral dos estudantes de medicina vem sendo valorizada e questionada. Tradicionalmente, o exemplo docente é considerado fundamental neste âmbito da educação médica. Assim, conhecer a concepção docente acerca do que constitui de fato a formação ético-moral de seus estudantes pode ajudar-nos na tentativa de aprimorar esta formação. O presente trabalho teve por objetivos caracterizar e discutir a concepção docente acerca da formação ético-moral do estudante de medicina. Perguntamos a profissionais que exercem atividades de ensino com estudantes de medicina da Universidade Federal de São Paulo, no que consiste a formação ético-moral dos estudantes. 237 sujeitos participaram deste estudo. Os dados foram analisados de acordo com uma análise de conteúdos. Os participantes acreditam que a formação ético-moral do estudante de medicina é baseada em valores adquiridos precocemente na vida, mas que pode ser influenciada pelas escolas médicas. Sete categorias temáticas foram obtidas: 1) Respeito devido a outros profissionais, aos familiares e aos pacientes; 2) Bem-estar do paciente: o ideal da medicina; 3) Capacidade de comunicação; 4) Atualização permanente; 5) Exercício de virtudes; 6) Responsabilidade social; 7) Conhecimento do Código de Ética Médica. Os temas que emergiram desta pesquisa podem ser explorados através de diferentes estratégias de ensino e aprendizagem. As escolas médicas deveriam investir esforços na sensibilização e no preparo docente para esta tarefa" ["At present we see doctors ever more distant from patients, prioritizing, when they do, the technical aspect of the profession. Therefore, the ethical and moral education of medical students is been reevaluated and challenged. Traditionally, teaching by example is considered vital in this area of medical education. So, knowing teachers’ conception on what is in fact the moral-ethical education of their students may help us in the attempt of perfecting this education. The present work aims to characterize and discuss teachers’ conception about the moral-ethical education of the medical student. We asked professionals who engage in teaching activities with medical students of the Federal University of Sao Paulo what they see are the moral-ethical education of their students. 237 subjects participated of this study. Data were analyzed by means of contents analysis. The participants believe that the moral-ethical education of medical students is based on values acquired early in life, but may be influenced by medical schools. Seven thematic categories were obtained: 1) Due respect for other professionals, relatives and patients; 2) Well-being of the patient: the ideal of medicine; 3) Communication capacity; 4) permanent education; 5) the exercise of virtues; 6) social responsibility; 7) Knowledge of the Code of Medical Ethics. The topics that surfaced of this inquiry can be explored through different strategies of teaching and apprenticeship. Medical schools should invest in making teachers sensible to this question and in teachers’ training for this task"]
