La producción “indexada” en las ciencias sociales latinoamericanas [The social sciences “indexing” production in Latin America]

Abstract
"El propósito del trabajo, en primer lugar, es reflexionar sobre un estilo de producción científica en las ciencias sociales latinoamericanas que llamaremos “indexado”, pues se orienta a la publicación de resultados de investigaciones o reflexiones en cierto tipo de revistas, aquellas incorporadas en bases de datos masivas o indizadas. En segundo lugar, se resume una descripción de la producción indexada en los últimos veinte años en cinco países de la región y tres disciplinas. Finalmente, se plantean algunas conclusiones que cuestionan algunos mitos sobre la producción en las ciencias sociales de la región y, especialmente, alerta sobre lo estéril de rechazar este tipo de producción planteando que existen condiciones estructurales que hacen muy difícil tal rechazo. Así, la producción caracterizada por ensayos generales con escasa divulgación ha sido superada por una producción de alta divulgación en red de todo tipo de “productos”: resultados de investigaciones, ensayos más especulativos y análisis de casos. Además, las mismas disciplinas muestran un desarrollo muy desigual y diferenciado. Se sugiere que una nueva etapa se ha inaugurado en la producción bibliográfica de las ciencias sociales en América Latina" ["The first aim of this paper is to think about a kind of scientific production in Latin-American social sciences, which we might call indexed, since it reaches the publication of research results in a certain type of journals, those incorporated in massive or indexed databases. Secondly, it is a brief description of the indexed production in the last 20 years in five countries of the region, and in three disciplines. Finally, some conclusions are offered. The paper analyzes critically some myths on the production in the social sciences of the region, and specially, warning on the sterile results of reject this kind of scientific production given the fact that structural conditions that make such a rejection very difficult. This way, the production characterized by essays with light spreading has been overcome by a production of strong networking spreading of all sort of “products”: research results, speculative essays, and case analysis. In addition, the disciplines under exam in this paper show a very unequal and differentiated development. It is suggested that a new stage has inaugurated in the bibliographical production of the social sciences in Latin America"]
