Abstract
In financial activities there always exists the moral paradox. The economic value and moral value in financial activities, though each with its own connotation and standard of measurement, share a common objective of value maximization. They tend to be in conflict with each other while pursuing the value maximization objective, and present great contradictions and difficult moral and economic choices to participants in financial activities. This moral paradox is originated from, and to be resolved in, the gaming process of economic and moral principles concerning financial activities, a process where choices are made based on the guidance of one's value preference. Although the value basis varies among participants in financial activities, there still exists relative certainty in the value frame of reference involved. Following the relative certainty, one is encouraged to make non-utility based choices. When facing a moral paradox, it could be a painful process to make a moral decision at an economic cost, an act of turning one's moral principles and obligations into his moral practice.
