Abstract
Dialogue, a time honored dimension of Catholic thinking in Taiwan, emerged in response to the need to be understood and recognized as Catholics in a context imbibed with a variety of prosperous cultural and religious traditions. Using various examples, this paper illustrates the pragmatism of cultural, ecumenical, and interreligious dialogue as prompted by Catholic thinkers and practitioners in Taiwan. Moreover, it reiterates the need for a contextual and systematic reflection This aims to display how choices made are connected to self-awareness and truth seeking—two concerns that are etymologically inscribed in the concept of dialogue.
