Abstract
"En el pasado verano se nos fue África Sendino, miembro de la Junta Directiva de la Asociación de Bioética de la Comunidad de Madrid, médico internista del Hospital La Paz y ejemplo, para todos los que tuvimos la dicha de conocerla, de cómo vivir la vida superando las adversidades de una enfermedad prolongada. Ha sido esta última faceta la que nos ha puesto de relieve su particular figura humana, la que quizás nos ha permitido valorar mejor el tesoro que escondía en su corazón. Cuando después de un ciclo de quimioterapia se incorporaba a una reunión de la Junta como si tal cosa, en vez de irse tranquilamente a su casa, cuando ya con una emiparesia y metástasis cerebrales acudía a dar las clases de Bioética en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, llevada del celo de transmitir el entusiasmo por la asignatura a las nuevas generaciones de los alumnos o cuando, ya hospitalizada, seguía impartiendo temas de Bioética a alumnas de la escuela de enfermería, nos mostraba la seriedad y la importancia que le daba a la necesidad de formar a las nuevas generaciones en el respeto a la vida y el cuidado a los enfermos que forma parte ineludible de la profesión sanitaria".
