Abstract
"El artículo estudia las posiciones de Peter Singer en contraste con la posición de la Iglesia Católica respecto al trato que debe darse a los animales. La primera parte presenta un argumento inicial que refleje la postura del catolicismo, para posteriormente ir mostrando sus fortalezas y debilidades, reelaborándolo de acuerdo al Magisterio. En la segunda parte, se estudia como Singer defiende el trato igualitario de los animales analizando presupuestos como la «igualdad de intereses» y sus principios utilitaristas. Se cierra con unas conclusiones en donde se señalan las convergencias y puntos de acuerdo entre ambas posturas". ["The article examines the positions of Peter Singer in contrast to the position the Catholic Church and the treatment to be given to animals. the first part presents an argument reflecting the initial position of Catholicism, later be showing their strengths and weaknesses, I reelaborándolo according to the Magisterium. in the second part is studied as Singer advocates equal treatment of animals analyzing budgets as "Equality of interests" and its principles utilitarian. Closes with conclusions where the convergences are identified and points of agreement between the two positions".]
