Abstract
Der Digital Divide wird heute allgemein als globales Problem anerkannt und steht auf der politischen Agenda. Es reicht jedoch nicht aus, nur auf die institutionalisierte Politik zu vertrauen, denn Unternehmen sind in diesem Themen- komplex entscheidende Akteure. Durch ihre Geschäftsmodelle sowie ihre politische Einflussnahme dazu beitragen, den Digital Divide zu überwinden. (The digital divide is now widely recognized as a global problem and is high on the political agenda. However, relying on institutional policy alone would not be sufficient, because of the crucial role played by companies in this field. Through their business models as well as their political influence, private companies can make contributions to bridging the digital divide.)
