Abstract
"We need to be aware of the presence and the communicative function of myths in Gn. 1-11 and in the Pentateuch as a whole. Myth is a special way of interpreting meaningful realities. What a myth tells is not what has actually happened, but those things —historic and real— that the narrative gathers and resignifies by imagining a foundational event that brought them into existence. Another function of myths is that of offering models for human praxis. This article is about the kerygmatic and theological component of some Genesis myths and specially of the “Sinai myth”, as a religious interpretation of Israel’s institutions"
