Abstract
"Las personas queer generalmente no tienen imágenes de lo divino que afirmen su plena humanidad. Históricamente, la tradición cristiana ha despojado a las imágenes de lo divino de todo rastro de erotismo y sexualidad. La tesis de este artículo es que Kuan Yin, la diosa asiática de la compasión, puede servir como un espejo de la experiencia queer. Específicamente explora las conexiones históricas entre Kuan Yin y los temas de la compasión queer, la sexualidad queer, y la fluidez del género. El artículo concluye con un análisis de las conexiones entre los atributos queer de Kuan Yin y la cristología occidental contemporánea, en particular, la relación entre Kuan Yin como un espejo del Cristo queer asiático y el triple oficio tradicional de Cristo (sacerdote, rey y profeta) en la obra de Karl Barth." "Queer people do not usually have images of the divine that affirm their full humanity. Historically, the Christian tradition has often stripped all traces of eroticism and sexuality from the images of the divine. The thesis of this article is that Kuan Yin, the Asian goddess of compassion, can serve as a mirror of the queer Asian experience. Specifically, the article explores the historical connections between Kuan Yin and the themes of queer compassion, queer sexuality, and gender fluidity. The article concludes with an analysis on the connections between the queer attributes of Kuan Yin and contemporary Western Christology, particularly, the connections between Kuan Yin as a mirror of the queer Asian Christ and the traditional three-fold office of Christ (priest, king, and prophet) in the work of Karl Barth."
