Abstract
In the realm of boarding schools, women experience gender discourses (such as rights of a father ijbar very burdensome for the girls and the rights of the waiting period for a widow) In Uqudulujain, classic book, a book that is often delivered by clerics or religious teacher at a boarding school talks about the harmony between the husband and wife in a family. In this book, it is mentioned that if a wife refuses to have sex with her husband invitation, she will be damned until morning by angels. Furthermore, if a husband invites sex in bed while his wife put it off an hour, later on the Day of Judgment will go to hell. The woman is nakedness, then when he came out of his house will be monitored Satan. In addition, the Alquran explicitly mentioned that men are in charge of women. Most of the contents of the Uqudulujain classic book shows the discourse of domination of a man (husband) of a woman (wife) or a discourse of women’s subordination to men in the family sphere. Gender is a new discourse in the Islamic world. This issue invites resistant attitude and controversy because in the view as elements that come from the West and not rooted in Islamic tradition. Gender issues included in the pesantren community driven by gender sensitivity is emerging as a critical attitude on cultural biases in body boarding. The reconstruction is expected to eliminate gender inequality is still applied in the social life of the pesantren.
