¿Crecimiento o decrecimiento? : a propósito de los últimos 50 años = Increase or decline? : talking of the Last 50 years / Enrique Lluch Frechina.

Abstract

El presente artículo comienza describiendo el concepto de crecimiento y sus princi-pales características. En segundo lugar se repasa el concepto de decrecimiento, viendo los puntos esenciales que lo describen y que son generalmente aceptados por todos aquellos que defienden esta manera de entender la economía. En tercer lugar se analiza si el crecimiento o el decrecimiento son unos buenos objetivos económicos o si, por el contrario, deberíamos considerarlos más como instrumen-tos que como fines a perseguir. En siguiente lugar introduce cuál debería ser el objetivo a perseguir en el ámbito económico de actuación a partir de una concep-ción cristiana de la economía. Para finalizar se repasan algunas de las cuestiones clave de la economía de los últimos cincuenta años para vislumbrar la utilidad de las políticas de crecimiento y de decrecimiento en la consecución del objetivo final descrito en el anterior apartado.
 This article begins by describing the concept of growth and its main features. Sec-ondly It describes the concept of degrowth, It speaks about the features of degrowth that are generally accepted by all those who defend this way of under-standing the economy. Thirdly it analyzes whether growth or degrowth are good economic objectives or whether, on the contrary, we should consider them more as tools than as goals to pursue. Fourth the article speaks about what should be the goal to pursue in the economic sphere of action from a Christian conception of the economy. Finally it analyzes some of the key economic issues of the last fifty years to glimpse the political utility of growth and degrowth in achieving the ulti-mate goal described in the previous section.
