Abstract
The search to control a precious commodity as water has been a constant in the historical evolution of different societies. Its scarcity and the high value it has obtained throughout thousands of years of human use was the cause of many conflicts to regulate and exploit its use, supply and distribution. During the low medieval centuries, the conquered lands were subjugated to the Christian political consells and its different feudal powers. These passed a new legislation and regularization on the uses of water which reflected the social, economic and political restraints imposed by the new feudal system. This paper analyses the institutional and legal regulations that during the Low Middle Ages controlled water supplies in the areas of what is today the Spanish region of Bajo Segura.
