AbstractThis paper examines Jesuit drama in 18th century Innsbruck. Its continuing success, its radical shift towards secular subjects and inherent tensions with political authorities seem to be unusual features. Before a final assessment can be made, however, we need to know much more about 18th century Jesuit drama in general. This period has been much neglected in research on the topic so far.
