大学校长林文庆

Abstract

林文庆博士在东南亚历史上占有极为重要的地位，是东南亚华人历史上不可或缺的、里程碑式的人物；同时，作为私立时期的厦门大学校长，他也是中国大学发轫史上一个非常重要的人物。然而，多年来由于种种原因，致使国内学术界几乎完全忽略了林文庆博士的存在及他在中国近代史上的价值。 本研究在基于大量历史文献资料的基础上，吸取了国内外众多的最新研究成果，对林文庆的生平事迹进行了全面、详尽的研究。就目前国内外学术界的研究现状来看，这也是有关林文庆研究方面最大型、最全面的第一次尝试性研究。 首先，本研究厘清了林文庆与鲁迅之间的关系。以往国内外的学者，大都是基于林文庆与鲁迅之间思想理念的不同（一个尊孔、一个要打倒孔家店），而先入为主、想当然地以为鲁迅的离开厦大，是因为他和林文庆之间思想上的冲突。而事实上，这是一种缺少历史依据、主观武断的错误论断。本研究以大量的证据，得出了与传统观点完全不同的结论。 其次，林文庆主掌厦大16年，其独特的办学理念和堪称完美的教育思想，一向也是为人们所忽视的，笔者依据林文庆在厦大期间所发表的大量演讲词、文章及其它有关著作等，初步梳理、总结了林文庆的教育思想，这在国内外也是第一次尝试。 最后，林文庆那有别于国内传统的儒学思想，也是对中国儒家思想的一个重大贡献，本研究虽不专论思想，但也对林文庆的儒学思想做了初步的探讨，这在国内外学术界来看，也是一个有益的尝试。

Dr Lim Boon Keng occupied a very important position in Southeast Asian history, He was an indispensable people for the history of the Chinese in Southeast Asia, a landmark figure. At the same time, as the president of Amoy University during its private time, he was also a very important figure in prime history of China universities. However, due to various reasons in past years, the domestic academic was almost completely ignored the existence of Dr Lim and his value in modern Chinese history. In this study, based on a large number of historical documents, the author absorbed a large number of the latest research results at home and abroad and conducted a comprehensive study about Dr Lim’s life. It was also the fisrt attempt study related to this research area. At first, this study clarified the relationship between Lu Xun and Dr Lim. In past, all scholars assumed that Lu Xun's departure Amoy University was because the ideological conflict between them based on the different concept of Lu Xun and Dr Lim.(one respected Confucian and another wanted to down with Confucianism) Actually, it was a wrong and arbitrary conclusion based on the lack of history. This study obtained completely different conclusion with the traditional views based on a lot of historical evidence. Secondly, Dr Lim was in charge of Amoy University for 16 years, his unique educational philosophy and his perfect idea about education was ignored in long time. This study summed up the ideological education of Dr Lim for the first time based on his publications. Lastly, Dr Lim’s unique Confucianism was unlike traditional views, it was a major contribution to Confucianism. This study also did a preliminary study about Dr Lim’s Confucianisms.
