Wu Annals, from the Annals of the Three Kingdoms, fragment of the twelfth volume
Abstract
This is a fragment of ten lines from the Biography of Yu Fan of the twelfth roll of the Wu Annals, copied during the Western Jin. The calligraphy resembles that of the Zhufo Yaoji Jing, a Buddhist sutra copied in 296. This is an excellent example of the style of calligraphy that flourished for a time during the Wei and Jin, developing from scribe script just as essay cursive developed from ordinary cursive scriptDate
