Abstract

~Gamla, is a large fortified city, whose remnants date it to the Early Bronze age. Gamla was also inhabited during the Persian period and Hellenistic periods the city increased in size and was fortified. In 20 BC Augustus Caesar gave the northern Golan, including Gamla, to Herod the Great. During Herod's control of the city, occurred a fatal Jewish rebellion against the Romans. The city was totally ruined in 67 AD. Its location was found in 1968. Seen is a model of a Roman catapult is located outside the eastern wall.
