Abstract
~In Tiberias, located on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee, an important archaeological site is situated, which is relevant to the cultural and religious heritage of the three monotheistic faiths. Several excavations were conducted in Tiberias during the decades, uncovering finds ranging from the Chalcolithic (4500-3300 BC) through the Ottoman (1517-1917) periods. A hypostyle structure, which was later identified as a congregational mosque dating from the Early Islamic period (638-1099 AD), was found on site. Also, a Byzantine church (324-638 AD) was also uncovered there. Special finds to date include a mosaic floor, Arabic inscriptions, complete oil lamps and hundreds of coins, all of great importance in dating the site's phasesDate
Archaeological finds range from 4500 BC to 1917, among which is a mosque dated to circa 638-1099 AD and a Byzantine church from circa 324-638 ADType
