Abstract
В статье освещается феномен отечественной университетской арабистики первой половины ХIХ в., оценивается научное наследие востоковедов Казанского университета, и прежде всего профессора Мирзы А.К. Казем-Бека, их вклад в изучение арабо-мусульманских источников в России.The article addresses the phenomenon of Arab studies in Russian universities in the 1 st half of the 19 th century and aims to assess the scholarly heritage of the Orientalists of Kazan Universityand their contribution, in particular by Mirza A.K. Kazem-Bek, instudying Arab Islamic sources in Russia. The scientific revolution occurred in the genesis of the Russian Oriental studies (including Arab studies) as an area of studying Asian countries and peoples at the end of the 18 th beginning of the 19 th centuries. In the second half of the 19 thbeginning of the 20 th centuries philological and historical spheres of thought were actively developing, as well as the new methods and research techniques. The scholarly and social value of the Russian Oriental studies and its level were determined by accumulation of factual knowledge about the Eastern peoples and countries, as well as the interest of the state and the society in comprehending them. Professor MirzaA.K.Kazem-Bek (1801-1870) was the founder of the Russian Oriental studies in the 19 th century and a major Russian scholar of Turkic, Persian, Arab and Islamic studies. The origins and development of the academic Oriental studies in Russia (Kazan and St.Petersburg) and Europe, and the shifted boundaries of this phenomenon are closely linked with the person of MirzaA.K.Kazem-Bek. His diverse research was innovative and showed consistency with which the scholar followed the latest achievements of the Russian and European Oriental Studies. The humanitarian nature of the scholar’s and philosopher’s Oriental research was the most important theme in the legacy of Kazem-Bek. The profound knowledge of classical and living Islamic languages and complex study of traditional Oriental literary texts, as well as material culture of the peoples living in the Arab Islamic East truly stand out in A.K.Kazembek’s pedagogical and scientific activities. Nowadays, the legacy of MirzaA.K.Kazembek incorporates history and culture of the peoples of the modern Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkey. Taken as a whole, the study and propagation of Mir-zaA.K.Kazembek’s biography and scholarly legacy bear not just historical and scientific but also overall cultural and humanistic importance.
