Abstract
The jewish communauties in the region of Nord/Pas-de-Calais, which appeared during the French Revolution and the First Empire, are the result of migrations in wich many of young men are unmarried. So mixed marriages are frequent (a jewish young man marries a non jewish young girl). Sometimes, the young jew becomes catholic but frequently he doesn’t renounce his faith. And even, in very small communauties, owing to mixed marriages judaïsm doesn’t disappear. The children born from these mixed unions assume responsabilities in their own communauties. During the 19th century, judaïsm is alive because of mixed marriage.
