Abstract
SOCIAL CLASSES AND LEARNING IN A CAPITALIST REGIME This summary of Barnes’ (2016) book, Are They Rich Because They’re Smart?, is one of three book reviews that appear in this issue’s MJE Forum. The review summarizes the book and serves to contextualize the debate opposing the two other articles that appear in the series. The book analyzes the social inequalities caused by capitalism and the intensification of the conflicts they produce. The author criticizes the elites’ self-congratulatory justification of their privileges and powers through their diplomas. Finally, it contends that workers will lead struggles to change the world and through these struggles, they will also change their self-image.
