China Business Perception IndexThe Business Perception Index (BPI) has been developed to understand the Kenya-based Chinese companies' characteristics, to understand the business and investment climate faced by Chinese enterprises, and how these conditions affect productivity and growth of Chinese companies in Kenya. The BPI Survey-Kenya is a firm-level descriptive survey of Chinese private and state-owned enterprises in Kenya. The questionnaire includes the following ten major sections: basic firm characteristics, regulation and taxes, crime and safety, informality, gender, finance, infrastructure, trade, workforce, corruption and obstacles analysis. We reached out through email and telephone to 184 Chinese establishments in Kenya, and 75 companies accepted the survey.

Philanthropy in ChinaPhilanthropy in China is fast growing. A new important charity law of China came into effect in 2016. This book is a comprehensive report about these developments: Philanthropy is considered the third form of wealth distribution (private means to public ends and communities) after market competition and taxation scheme. In individualistic and market-oriented societies, philanthropy is more established and relevant than in societies, where the state controls distribution. CSR Report on Chinese Business Overseas OperationCorporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to corporate behaviour that pro-actively meets the ethical expectations of the public and voluntarily contributes to the society. The global CSR movement yields numerous initiatives, standards and legislation. Owing to the need for development as well as the reform and opening-up policy, mounting Chinese enterprises are “going global” with large amounts of capital. Nevertheless, some foreign governments cast doubt on China’s strategic intent, and the general public is dissatisfied with Chinese CSR performance. Chinese enterprises must strengthen their capacities regarding risk control, internal governance, public communication etc., so as to achieve mutual benefit with multi-stakeholders and build an image of responsible global citizenship.

From the beginning of reform and opening to the end of twentieth Century, the consciousness of modern Corporate Social Responsibility was awaked. 中国医药企业社会责任评价指标体系研究总结与反思Abstract in Chinese: 企业社会责任评价研究是企业社会责任研究领域中重要且易引发争议的热点。本研究基于利益相关者理论,综合运用德尔菲法、层次分析法,初步构建了医药企业社会责任评价指标体系。本文主要针对指标体系构建过程中的研究方法、指标选取、指标体系应用方向问题进行深入探讨,旨在总结研究经验,为未来深入研究提供借鉴。Abstract in English: CSR measurement is an important and controversial hotspot in the field of CSR research. This study aims at constructing CSR Measurement Index System for Chinese pharmaceutical companies based on stakeholder theory with the Delphi method and Analytic Hierarchy Process. This paper reviews the challenges of the research methods adopted, index selection and the potential application of the preliminary measurement index system. 发达国家企业社会责任实践的新趋势Abstract in Chinese: 进入二十一世纪以来,发达国家在企业社会责任实践上出现了一些新趋势。政府对企业社会责任的推进无论是在动机上还是在策略上都从单纯地解决社会问题转向提升国家竞争力、实现社会团结、促进社会和环境的可持续发展,并且在推进企业社会责任时由单纯的国内治理转向全球治理。企业在履行社会责任时,倾向于履行战略型的社会责任,并且将对社会责任的履行同社会责任投资、参与公共治理等结合起来,通过创造共享价值等形式实现企业和社会的双赢。Abstract in English: In the first decade of 21th century, some new trends emerged in the practice of corporate social responsibility, both for the governments and companies of the developed countries. Governments change their motives and strategies from solely solving social problems to promoting national competitiveness,national solidarity and the sustainable development of both society and environment. Companies tend to fulfill the strategic social responsibility such as creating the shared value, which is combined to social responsible investment and public governance, in order to achieve the win-win situation between society and companies. 企业社会责任的道德基础探究Abstract in Chinese: 道德基础问题是企业社会责任研究的一个重要议题,在这一问题上,弗里德曼等人以企业利己主义为股东至上论进行辩护,弗里曼等人以义务论为利益相关者理论进行辩护,但这两种辩护都存在各自问题而不足以为企业社会责任提供合理的道德基础。后果主义理论通过为波特等人提出的创造共享价值的企业社会责任观进行辩护,以及为企业和其他社会成员之间利益冲突的解决提供合理辩护,显示了其优越性。Abstract in English: The problem of moral foundation is an important issue of corporate social responsibility (CSR) study. Business egoism is used to argue for shareholder theory by Friedman, and deontology is used to argue for stakeholder theory by Freeman. Both of these two theories cannot provide reasonable argument for moral foundation of CSR. By arguing for the “creating shared value” CSR advanced by Porter and for the solution of conflicts of interest between corporate and other members of society, Consequentialism shows its advantage. 经济伦理视野中的企业社会责任及其担当与评价次序Abstract in Chinese: 从经济伦理学的视阈审视,将“经济责任”与“伦理责任”设定为企业社会责任中存有主次与先后的不同层序,是长期以来“经济”与“伦理”的分割式理解在企业社会责任问题上的显现。经济与伦理本质上是内在统一的。从这一立场出发,企业社会责任是经济责任与伦理责任内在统一、相互交融的“经济—伦理”责任。与此相对应,企业社会责任担当与评价的次序应遵循的原则是:企业在利润获取层面承担的社会责任优先于利润分配层面承担的社会责任。Abstract in English: From the view of economic ethics, it is the obvious exemplification of the separately understanding with “economic” and “ethics” in CSR that “economic responsibility” and “ethical responsibility” are assumed to have different primary and secondary sequence. In essence, economics and ethics have inherent unity. From this standpoint, CSR is an “economic-ethical” responsibility, in which the economic responsibility and ethical responsibility are combined as an inherent unity and also interacted with each other. Correspondingly, the undertaking of CSR and the order of evaluation should follow the principle that CSR of profit obtain have high priority. [pp. 313-314]

论企业道德责任的依据、表现与内化Abstract in Chinese: 与单纯的“利益相关者说”或“契约论”的解释不同,我们主张从综合论的角度来探讨企业道德责任的依据,认为企业道德责任的依据既存在于利益相关者的联系之中,又同社会契约的订立密切相关,还根源于企业行为选择的后果。企业道德责任的涵义大体有广义和狭义两个方面,从较为广泛和普遍的意义上界定企业的道德责任,我们认为企业的道德责任是体现在企业的经济责任、法律责任和精神文化责任之中,同时又同企业伦理建设密切相关的诸种责任的有机统一。从比较狭义的视角来考察企业的道德责任,企业的道德责任是企业所肩负的对自己、对同道和对社会的道德义务的自觉承担和精神担纲,它在其精神实质上可以用“敬业求精、贵和乐群”来概括。企业道德责任的内化即为企业良心。企业良心就是企业道德责任的自我意识和自我评价。它由企业爱心、企业诚心和企业义心或公正之心所构成。Abstract in English: Taking a stand different from the theory of benefit-relativity and that of contract, we think that we should analyze the basis for enterprises to undertake moral responsibilities from a more comprehensive perspective, holding that the basis lies in the relations between benefit correlates of enterprises, in the social contracts concerned, and in the consequences of enterprises’ conduct. The moral responsibilities of enterprises can be understood both in a broad sense and in a narrow sense. In a broad sense, the moral responsibilities of enterprises are incarnated in their economic, legal and cultural responsibilities as well as in the various kinds of responsibilities concerning the ethical construction of enterprises. The moral responsibilities of enterprises in a narrow sense refer to the responsibilities that an enterprise undertakes for itself, organizations of the same trade and the society. In the second sense, the nature of the moral responsibilities of enterprises may be summarized as “seeking constant improvement” and “seeking peaceful harmony”. When moral responsibilities are implanted in enterprises, there forms the conscience of enterprises, which refers to the self-consciousness and self-evaluation of enterprises about their own responsibilities. The conscience of enterprises finds its expressions in the senses of love, honesty and justice among enterprises. [pp. 261-262]

论传统儒家诚信的意志之维Abstract in Chinese: 当代我国诚信建设既要重视社会诚信的他律建设,又要重视个体诚信的自律养成。植根于传统经济社会和民族文化的儒家诚信伦理,在培植个体诚信自律、调谐社会关系及涵育民族精神等方面曾有重要的价值和影响,对于今天社会诚信建设尤其是个体诚信修养仍具有积极的借鉴意义。传统儒家诚信具有强烈的意志特征,通过剖析天人合一观念下儒家诚信的意志自由,揭示儒家诚信的意志动力,分析儒家诚信的意志行为,探寻儒家诚信的意志修养路径,我们大可概观儒家诚信的意志精神,为我们探讨传统儒家诚信的内在根据和品质,批判继承儒家诚信思想提供必要的线索。 Abstract in English: During the course of constructing Chinese social integrity, it is necessary to construct both social integrity system and personal integrity. Rooted in traditional economic society and national culture, Confucian integrity ethics is of great value in the cultivation of individual integrity and self-discipline, harmonizing social relations and fostering national spirits. Confucian integrity ethics has strong characteristics of the will. We can overview Confucian integrity spirits in four aspects: analysis of harmony between man and nature under the concept of a Confucian integrity of free will; revealing the Confucian ideology of faith and will power; analysis of Confucian ideology of faith and the will to act; exploring ways of will cultivation of Confucian integrity. These four aspects can provide essential clues for us to discuss the inherent basis and quality of Confucian integrity ethics and to inherit Confucian integrity ethics in a critical way. [pp. 217-218]
