This paper undertakes an initial investigation of corporate social responsibility with a particular emphasis on sustainability in the Australian SME environment. Given that the research is exploratory in nature a qualitative case study has been used. Interviews with eco-team members and data from secondary sources were obtained from an SME that has a repetition for enhanced business performance resulting form the application of CSR and sustainable practices. The findings provide practical insight into the advantages of CSR and sustainable practice to SME bottom line performance and give balance to this sector in the literature that is more focused on larger corporations. The findings indicate the importance of partnering, and show how CSR can be a direct and long-term driver of sustainable business performance.Griffith Business School, Department of International Business and Asian Studies
