Current Practice in Designing Training for Complex Skills: Implications for Design and Evaluation of ADAPTIT

AbstractADAPTIT is a European project within the Information Society Technologiesprogramme that is providing design methods and tools to guide training designers according to thelatest cognitive science and standardization principles. An extensive needs assessment phase hasbeen completed. The aim of this effort was to explore current practice in instructional design andassociated with that, the needs of the training designers in order to improve their practice and toinsure that real world needs will be addressed in the project and its products. This paper reports theneeds assessment procedures and outcomes informing how they guide the efforts within the project.
