AbstractWe present findings from a research project aimed at developing instructional resources to support the learning with understanding of the numeration systems of Mexican indigenous languages. The project was conducted following the design research methodology. Products include instructional resources, as well as theoretical and methodological innovations developed to support the instructional design process. The paper centers on the process of developing an instructional sequence for teaching the Tu’un Savi (or Mixtecan) numeration system. This process is framed as a paradigmatic case of the kind of design research conducted in the project.
