On Becoming an Online Professor: A Meta-Cognitive Self-Regulated Perspective
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to share the challenge of facing the development of a skill that alters the learner's framework of thinking how to teach using online technology. The paper is organized in three major sections. First, the author shares her narrative explication of the journey of learning to understand and use a course authoring tool for online teaching. Second, the author then analyzes the reflection according to the IDEAR Model, a metacognitive self regulated model of learning. Then the author discusses the importance of the role of the professor as a mediator in facilitating the learning process. Finally, the author's conclusions show the future directions she is taking as a result of this journey.
