Best Practices: Strategies for increasing BBVista Usage at a Small College
AbstractLike many colleges, Cabrini has invested heavily in web-based teaching technologies such as WebCT/BBVista. Yet relatively few faculty members have utilized these tools. This paper describes how one small college has succeeded in getting more faculty members to use the BBVista tools on their campus. A survey of how student and faculty use of technology both “inside” and “outside” of the classroom helps describe how campus members are currently using technology. Attitudes and use of technology outside of the classroom are then compared with actual usage data pulled from the colleges log files. The survey and log analysis is then used to create a strategy that was used to increase faculty use of the online teaching tools.
