The Online School for Girls – How Web 2.0 will change the way girls learn
AbstractThere are fundamental differences between how girls and boys (generally speaking) interact with, think about, and learn in conjunction with technology. As electronic media has evolved, the chance for technology to enable teachers to leverage the distinctly female ways of learning in the online space (infused with collaboration, connectivity, and creativity) has begun to loom larger on the horizon. This new opportunity is coincident with “web 2.0,” or the transformation of the internet from a repository of information into a dynamic source of individual meaning-making. At this session we will explore the world’s first online educational resource designed with precisely this leverage in mind: The Online School for Girls.
