AbstractThe proposed paper is set out to discuss the rationale behind the design and dissemination of an ICT distance learning training course addressed to in-service teachers interested in pupils with special needs. The theoretical model followed for the construction of the course, along with the preliminary findings of the project advocate the need for a curricular basis to the approach rather than adopting a medical deficit model to support the learners. The lack of the participants' IT skills also highlighted the staged approach a future course needs to adopt.
