E-Learning Classroom Environment: Description, Objectives, Considerations and Example Implementation
Full recordShow full item record
AbstractDespite rapid proliferation of computers in educational institutions, classrooms for the most part have not yet been transformed into a computerized environment. Specialized networked computer labs are becoming common, while teaching in classrooms continues to be conducted using the traditional learning approach personified by the lecturing teacher and the passive students. If there is to be a large scale transformation from the traditional classroom to the e-learning classroom environment, there must be some clear objectives in doing so. We describe the e-learning classroom environment and discuss its objectives and some implementation considerations. We also provide a description of a unique implementation of the e-learning classroom environment in 58 fully computerized classrooms in the University General Requirements Unit (UGRU) at the United Arab Emirates University.
