AbstractE-Learning in itself implies a shift in the traditional educational paradigm, hence it is important to have a clear understanding of several key concepts that could lead to success or failure of such programs. The following monogram provides a brief discussion on facilitation as an instructional model for e-learning and aims to answer the following five questions: (i) what is the purpose of online facilitation? (ii) what is the role of the facilitator? (iii) what are the necessary skills for effective facilitation? (iv) what are the underlying principles of this process? (v) what is the role of technology in this type of instruction?
