Information technology integration in teaching writing skills to English language learners

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to share my research in progress for designing a course for English language learners at the advanced composition level in which the focus is on using their writing language abilities to construct the content for writing projects integrated with select computer technology. This advanced composition class, conducted solely in the computer lab, will be given prompts with which to write academic essays. The prompts will be delivered in the traditional written format and via video clips accessed through a web browser on an Internet connected computer. My interest is in whether using a different visual literacy changes and increases the amount and kind of academic writingDate
