This short paper is an initial report on the challenges facing the instructor ofthe educational computing course as colleges and universities strive to preparetechnology-capable teachers who in turn can produce technology-capable students.These challenges include the changes in entry-level computing skills for preserviceteachers, along with the many new innovations in hardware, software, and coursedelivery tools. These dramatic changes pose wonderful opportunities and demandingchallenges for the instructor of the educational computing course and for teachereducation programs.Date
