Abstract
This paper is a brief report on a recently developed web-based instructional module designed for third and fourth year medical students. It that demonstrates an approach to using multimedia to enhance instructor identity, content, and interactivity in an online instructional module. The module is formatted as a patient case study upon a clinical-presentation-based learning foundation. The module challenges the student to explore the clinical details and biomedical underpinnings of the case and construct a diagnosis and treatment. The design principles that enhance the effectiveness of the module are featured.
