AbstractThis paper presents information on how to carry out an assignment that providespre-service teacher with the opportunity to increase their understanding of how technologycan be appropriately integrated into an early childhood curriculum. The multimedia projectsutilize PowerPoint, a program the pre-service teachers learn as a part of their studies. Thestudents work collaboratively with other pre-service teachers in the university laboratoryschool creating multimedia storybooks with kindergarten children. The result is not onlybetter understanding of how to use technology with young children, but an increase in theirtechnology skills and classroom management skills as they work with a small group ofchildren. This opportunity becomes an valuable unscheduled practicum experience.
