This paper describes the creation of web-based digital portfolios by school counselor candidates and recent changes to the digital format to maximize effective evaluation. The earlier version of the portfolio required counselor candidates to provide artifacts that demonstrated their professional competence throughout their practica experience. Further refinement of the portfolio process indicated a need for candidates to also provide evidence of the instructional effectiveness of included activities for 7-12 students. Counselor candidates currently identify performance indicators associated with each portfolio artifact. This process provides counselor candidates with a greater need to reflect upon the pedagogical value of each activity included in the digital portfolio.Date
