Abstract
Mathematics becomes more meaningful and motivating in a technology-enhanced mathematics learning environment. Using a variety of technological tools, has great potential for enriching teaching and learning. Teachers are charged with the responsibility and challenge of creating this rich learning environment. How teachers view their role, the students? role, appropriate learning activities and instructional strategies, as well as their concept of the nature of mathematics, define what occurs in the classroom. Secondary teachers examined their attitudes and expertise in a short course focusing on content, pedagogy, and technology. Experiences incorporated computers, graphing calculators, and the Calculator-Based Ranger. Teachers identified and enhanced attitudes and beliefs about technology and mathematics teaching and learning. The discussion highlights the influence of attitude and expertise in creating a technologically enhanced mathematics learning environment.
