The Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) program was established in 2003 by the National Science Foundation to address the looming shortage of technology workers in the United States. The ITEST experience—including over 100 projects across 40 states—helps young people and teachers build the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a technologically rich society. Through a nearly $100 million federal investment, ITEST reaches more than 120,000 students, grades 6-12; more than 4,000 teachers; and more than 2,000 parents and caregivers. This symposium will introduce the audience to the innovative technological and pedagogical approaches ITEST projects are taking to working with teachers. In addition, new research will be presented regarding these projects.Date
