Full recordShow full item record
AbstractThis paper reports on doctoral work in progress investigating whether Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) are being used to support student-centred learning in UK Higher Education (HE). VLE is the term used to describe the package of integrated software tools that make use of Web or Internet-based technologies and are used to put courses online. The focus of the research is the lecturer (HE teacher), because it is they who set up the learning environment for the student. The findings of a pilot study into the use of Web and Internet-based technology to support learning in HE were used to develop a main study which concentrates on the use of VLEs by humanities and social science lecturers in face-to-face education.
