Abstract
This best practices session will highlight the experiences of two instructors at the University of San Francisco who have enhanced their instructional toolboxes with multimedia podcasts. By having access to these podcasts through several venues, students are able to use them in a way that is conducive to their diverse learning styles. While the fast paced, digital native environment is often associated with quick bytes of information, in fact, continuous access to scholarly information gives students the opportunity to become critical thinkers as part of their daily routine. By listening and reviewing the real-time classroom discussion, students hone their intellectual reflection as well as critical analysis skills that in turn foster academic engagement. We will provide guidelines for attendees interested in applying these techniques and review highlights from our quantitative and qualitative surveys that can assist in their pedagogical endeavors.
