Trayectorias académicas generacionales: constitución y diversificación del oficio académico. El caso de los bioquímicos de la Facultad de Medicina.

Social researchers in our country have pointed out the academic role as a new phenomenon. Some authors place the beginning of the academic profession in Mexico with the overcrowding of the higher education system and the developing of an important academic market. Main studies performed about this subject have been statistical. The objective of this study is to present a qualitative research approach to understand and explain the process of the creation of a new occupation as well the diversification in different academic roles in the case of a small scientific community. In order to identify the complex plot that have mainly contributed to the creation of a new university role, we have retraced the trajectories of three generation of faculty members from 1957 t0 1974. The study performed accounts for the different itineraries for each generation and explains the diversification in different academic roles: researcher in the institutes, faculty teachers and academic mostly devoted to academic managementDate
