Elaboración doctrinal de una devoción popular. Presencia bíblica en Los Milagros de Guadalupe (España, siglo XV)

Abstract

In this text, I suggest a selection and study of "miraglos" contained in the firsts four códices of Los Milagros de Guadalupe from the assumptions of the sociolingüistics and devotional sociology. This kind of approach will let me analyze the Christian symbology underlying these texts and give a posible history about the representations of the Church around the Guadaloupian devotion, as the Jeronimian monks project, when writing down every and each miracle, doctrinal arguments considered as esential in the Christian discourse of the time. In this particular case, the narrative plot of the miracula transmits a real doctrinal wisdom, appealing to biblical texts, stories and basis, specially from the New Testament. This appealing to the Bible is not explicit but, on the contrary, quotations and relations implicited in the narratives have to be discovered. From this cut of the Guadaloupian corpus, I will tackle the following topics: the importance of the baptism as a sacrament, the revelation understood as a divine grace, the image of Mary as Mother of God, the different signs of the imitatio Christi, particularly The Passion and the lion’s symbology.

En el presente texto propongo una selección y estudio de "miraglos" contenidos en los cuatro primeros códices de Los Milagros de Guadalupe desde los presupuestos de la sociolingüística y la sociología devocional. Este tipo de enfoque me permitirá analizar la simbología cristiana subyacente en estos textos y plantear una posible historia de las representaciones de la Iglesia en torno a la devoción guadalupana, dado que los monjes jerónimos proyectan, al redactar todos y cada uno de los milagros, argumentos doctrinales considerados esenciales en el discurso cristiano de la época. En el caso que me ocupa, la trama narrativa de los miracula transmite una verdadera sapiencia doctrinal, al recurrir a textos, relatos y fundamentos bíblicos, especialmente neotestamentarios. Esta recurrencia a la Biblia no es explícita sino, por el contrario, hay que descubrir las citas y vinculaciones que se hallan implícitas en los relatos. A partir de este recorte del corpus guadalupano, abordaré las siguientes cuestiones: la importancia del bautismo como sacramento, la revelación entendida como gracia divina, la imagen de María como Madre de Dios, las diferentes manifestaciones de la imitatio Christi, en particular la Pasión y la simbología del león.
