Abstract
The De Regimine Principum, written between the years 1277 and 1281 by the augustinian friar Giles of Rome, is one of the most read and transmitted treaty of political theory of the low middle ages in the Mirror of princes Genre. This doctrinal treaty proposes the theoretical construction of an ideal image of a governor, created through the moral virtues of Prudence, Justice, Temperance and Fortress. The conceptualisation of these virtues is elaborated by Giles, from Christian parameters, and aim to establish and delimitation of the action of the temporal power faced to the spiritual, approaching the royal authority to the ambit of potestas to the detriment of Auctoritas and the Papal Plenitudo Potestatis.
