Abstract
The construction of the first Christian temple of Jaen was beginning more than one century later than the consecration of the mosque. It was a new building that was supporting the structure derived from the mosque. A new stage was beginning in 1492 in the construction of the temple marked by the arrival of masters from the Castilian lategothic. This research is about the “rugged and unhappy” history of this temple previous to the Renaissance project of Vandelvira, across the prominent figures who took part in this constructive process (bishops and architects), to clarify its artistic relations to the general context of the Castilian architecture of the period
