Abstract
Pré print de l'article paru dans le N°67 de la revue Hermès, 2013.International audience
This article returns to the etymological roots of word "communication" to ask how knowledge can become "common" to all, how scientific knowledge can be built up outside the well-worn paths of discilines. It offers two answers : by developing an ethic dialogue between "unidiscilpline" and responsability, wich is possible by adopting an epistemology that breaks away from the fantasy that Reason is capable of expressing Truth absolutely and totally. In other words, we need the anarchist lessons of Kropotkin and Feyerabend, to whom the construction of scientific knowledge must be governed by the quest for researcher's emancipation

Strengthening Science Education in Sri LankaWorld Bank (Washington, DC, 2011-08)Scientific literacy is essential to stimulate an environment conducive to new knowledge generation, discovery and innovation. A quality school science education is central to building a scientifically literate population. Science education in Sri Lanka has progressed both quantitatively and qualitatively since the 1950s. Access to science education has grown steadily. This paper addresses the challenges to providing a good science education and considers pathways to the future. Policy initiatives supporting science education at present are considered. The science programme in schools is reviewed taking into account parameters such as curriculum, teaching and learning methods, learning assessments, teaching material and deployment and training of science teachers. First, learning achievements in science are assessed in the context of test scores in national assessments administered at grade eight. It is assumed that the national examinations are a suitable instrument to test learning outcomes and that at least in part reflect the quality of education.

Hand Biometrics TechnologyIEEE; IEEE (2014-03-10)In this activity, learners explore how engineers incorporate biometric technologies into products as well as the challenges of engineers who must weigh privacy, security and other issues when designing a system. Learners examine different biometric techniques, find their own hand geometry biometrics, and then work in teams of "engineers" to design a high-tech security system for a museum.
