Abstract
The spread of anorexia nervosa, especially in Western developed countries, is reaching alarming proportions. According to the <it>International Classification of Diseases</it>, the central feature of anorexia nervosa is “deliberate weight loss”. This means that anorexia nervosa is a progressive <it>pursuit of lightness</it>. Moving from this observation, I ask why so many people want to <it>lose weight</it>, why some would die, rather than <it>put on weight</it>. In order to understand what <it>value</it> these people attach to lightness, I look at contexts where lightness is typically celebrated (music, literature, and arts) and provide an analysis of anorexia nervosa, using both theoretical reflection and empirical observations. This analysis shows that anorexia is much more than a pattern of psychiatric symptoms, and much more than unintelligible behaviour. Anorexic behaviour is instead <it>meaningful and coherent</it> behaviour, and <it>expresses</it> ethical values that are deeply rooted in Western culture.

Export search results

The export option will allow you to export the current search results of the entered query to a file. Different formats are available for download. To export the items, click on the button corresponding with the preferred download format.

By default, clicking on the export buttons will result in a download of the allowed maximum amount of items.

To select a subset of the search results, click "Selective Export" button and make a selection of the items you want to export. The amount of items that can be exported at once is similarly restricted as the full export.

After making a selection, click one of the export format buttons. The amount of items that will be exported is indicated in the bubble next to export format.
