Prof Gerrie Snyman’s book 'Om die Bybel anders te lees: ‘n etiek van Bybellees' (2007) attracted
considerable attention in Afrikaans-speaking reformed circles in South Africa. In this article, some of the responses to and reviews of the book are studied in order to assess the publication’s impact. Moreover, the article aims to determine whether the book will contribute to future reflections and discussions on the use of the Bible in this context. It is concluded that the preferred method of interpretation in the Reformed Church in South Africa calls for a thorough revision. The socalled ‘grammatical-historical method’ of interpretation can no longer be regarded as the most appropriate and sole ‘Reformed method’ of interpretation.http://explore.up.ac.za/record=b1525162
