Abstract
Every society builds own way of thinking and feeling the illnesses. The interdependence between biological and sociological conditions in civilized society shows the form of living the illness in each historical moment. Objectives: Thinking about the way of seeing and living the illness in the western world all through the history. This work is specially centred in the believing emerged in the 18th century that the human progress can eradicate the illness. The roots of the way of filing the illness in the western world at the beginning of the 20th century are to be found in the ancient Greece and in the Judaic-Christian culture. This form of thinking has continued all troughs the Middle Age, until the arrival of the Modernity. From this moment a change has been produced: from searching the eternity in the other world to looking for the immortality on the earth. In the beginning of the 21th century, the post-modern man translates the crisis of thinking to the illness field. It produces tensions, which have evident impact in the form of living and taking care of the illness.
