Abstract

A proposta deste dossiê temático teve sua origem em uma rede de cooperação entre pesquisadores radicados na França e no Brasil. O interesse teórico-metodológico que une os autores é delinear a emergência de diferentes formas de trabalho e emprego e sua teia de relações sociais, em uma abordagem comparativa e multidisciplinar. O presente dossiê versa sobre a precarização social: trata-se de relatar e refletir a respeito das relações de trabalho e emprego na atualidade em diferentes países, tendo como horizonte uma comparação Norte-Sul. A proposta aqui é a utilização do conceito de precarização social a partir da análise do próprio trabalho, das relações de emprego e suas institucionalidades. Precarização social é aqui interpretada como uma condição mais ampla de instabilidade e insegurança no trabalho. Se comumente a noção de trabalho precário se reporta ao trabalho desqualificado e inseguro, a noção de precarização aqui adotada remete a um processo social de institucionalização da instabilidade. O conceito coloca em perspectiva um duplo processo: um de precarização econômica que resulta da flexibilização salarial e das reestruturações produtivas, outro da institucionalização da precariedade, procedente das transformações legislativas referentes ao trabalho e à proteção social. Nosso argumento é que o conceito de precarização social permite ainda definir a institucionalização da instabilidade e configurar a sua justificação como se fosse um valor moral aceitável, a ser dirigido individualmente por cada ator na autogestão das carreiras e de sua inserção social O processo de precarização social alça o trabalho a uma dimensão de valor moral, o que nos permite inserir as questões relativas ao trabalho em uma teoria social de maior alcance. A teoria crítica de Axel Honneth parece ter uma notável contribuição a dar no processo de entendimento do paradoxo entre uma concepção normativa da emancipação e os potenciais de destruição desses elementos de emancipação. Nossa ambição é de discutir as diferentes relações de trabalho e emprego, de maneira a trazer novas pistas de reflexão sobre o significado social da transitoriedade dos vínculos sociais pelo trabalho nesta fase atual do capitalismo.<br>The proposal presented in this thematic dossier had its origin in a cooperative network of researchers working in France and Brazil. The theoretical and methodological interest of the authors is to outline the emergence of different forms of work and employment, along with their web of social relations, within a comparative and multidisciplinary approach. This dossier deals with the social instability: it intends to report and reflect on the employment relations of today in different countries, considering a North-South comparison. The proposal here is to use the concept of social instability taking into account the analysis of the work, the employment relations and their institutionalities. Social instability is here interpreted as a broader condition of instability and insecurity at work. Even though the notion of precarious work commonly refers to the insecure and unskilled work, the notion of precarization adopted here is related to a social process of institutionalization of the instability. The concept puts into perspective a dual process: one of economic instability, resulting from wage flexibility and the restructuring of production; and another of institutionalization of the instability, resulting from legislative changes related to labor and social protection. Our argument is that the concept of social instability makes it possible to define the institutionalization of the instability, and to configure its justification as if it was an acceptable moral value, good enough to be addressed individually by each agent in the self-management of their careers and their social integration. The process of social instability raises the work to a dimension of moral value, which allows us to include the issues related to work within a social theory of greater scope. The Critical Theory of Axel Honneth makes a notable contribution to the process of understanding the paradox between a normative conception of emancipation and the potential for destruction of those elements of emancipation. Our intention is to discuss the different labor and employment relations, to bring new ways of thinking about the social significance of the transience of social ties at work in the current phase of capitalism.
